Trouble Sleeping?

Sleep Apnea

Sleep is not just a quality-of-life issue. Chronic sleep deprivation and poor sleep quality pose serious risks to your health. One of the biggest concerns is obstructive sleep apnea, which has been strongly linked with high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, stroke and heart attack. Apnea may also play a role in diabetes. In addition, people with sleep apnea are three to seven times more likely than others to be in a car crash.

Roy N Kohler, MD, of Big Sky Internal Medicine in Lewistown, has successfully earned his Board Certification in Sleep Medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).

ABIM works to enhance the quality of health care by certifying internists and subspecialist how demonstrate the knowledge, skills and attitudes essential for excellent patient care.

“Dr. Kohler has devoted his time to this specialized training and has obtained substantial expertise in evaluating, diagnosing and treating patients who have any of the full range of sleep disorders,” said Rick Poss, Sleep Disorder Manager at Central Montana Medical Center.

A growing body of research suggests that Board Certified physicians deliver higher quality care than non-certified physicians.  Board Certification demonstrates to the public that physicians have met the highest standards of internal medicine and its subspecialties.  Board
Certification is voluntary and includes an exam that tests a physician’s ability to diagnose and treat patients with a broad range of conditions.

“Dr. Kohler’s certification in Sleep Medicine indicates a professional commitment to sleep medicine, which helps Central Montana Medical Center maintain its cutting-edge technology in the sleep sciences,” said Poss
